A law enforcement friend of mine once advised that the best way to deal with crime or the threat of it is not fear but anger.  He said this in the context of protecting our homes and neighborhood, not venting irrational emotion. Thanks to all who are attentive and communicative of activities that look suspicious or criminal.  One of the best deterents of crime is active neighborhood watch.

This morning around 5:30 AM I went to walk my dog, which I often do at this time of day. There was a dark car (small sedan) parked in front of our house that I had not seen before, and I thought that is strange.   I turned up Bellemore towards Kenmore and before I got to my neighbor's driveway I heard a noise from up the streeet and saw the head of a person in a dark shirt near 108 Bellemore, which was also unusual.

I headed back inside my house and with all lights out watched to see if the person continued down Bellemore.  (I dont usually do this but something felt odd this morning.)  After a few minutes I saw two tall lean white young males dressed in all black run to the car parked in front of my house.  They drove off without any car lights turned on.

Unfortunately I did not get the make of the car or license plate number.

I currently have a Verizon  Blackberry and get an extremely low signal inside my house. Outside on the porch-- no problem. Step inside the back door-- signal is too low to make a phone call. Does anyone else have the same issue with Verizon wireless?  Does anyone use Sprint wireless and get a consistently strong signal inside the house? Thanks for your feedback, Kara Keehan

While we were out walking our dogs yesterday afternoon, Friday June 19th, between 4:05 - 4:35 pm someone gained access to our house and stole a laptop, jewelry, and cash. We immediately reported it to the police who are hopefully going to pursue the matter. There was someone from Bartlett Trees working on our street at the time. If you saw anyone going near our house or someone unfamiliar in the neighborhood at that time, please let us know. Thanks.

We received following information, please everybody be aware:

"Wednesday night (Dec 17) we were walking our dog at 9PM on Melrose and observed 5- 6 young guys trying to break into Bryn Mawr School, it was very frightening, it was definitely  young men, they looked college age, and when my husband pulled out his cell and called the police they spotted us and took off in a big dark silver/grey or black SUV, a very large one, like a Suburban that would hold all of them-but I could not identify the make or tag. They were spread out on the side of one of the buildings at Bryn Mawr, each one trying to get into  the  different doors and then fled together."

If you have any information on this, please call the police.
